David Michiels, LCPC

David enjoys working with individuals who are engaged, energetic, and eager to start the therapeutic process. He finds insight and willingness to change are key to a successful therapeutic relationship. During sessions, David takes an open and nonjudgmental space to help clients explore, problem-solve, and process their concerns. He applies skills such as mindfulness and grounding techniques in session.

David is interested in exploring intra-personal processes and healthy boundary-setting. He helps his clients advocate for themselves in their relationships, and learn emotional regulation skills in the face of difficult circumstances. David incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Exposure Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing). Crisis intervention, PTSD, trauma, and wellness management are some of David's additional clinical strengths.

David works with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and work/life balance concerns. David also works with couples to address areas of conflict as well as creating space for healthy and effective communication. He believes that therapy is an opportunity to reflect, process, challenge thoughts, express, share, and grow.
